Portland Vegan Restaurants (60 restaurants and food carts)
published on

Below is a thorough guide to the best Portland vegan restaurants.
Portland, Oregon has always been one of the most vegan-friendly cities in the country. Like other cities around the world, Portland has become even more vegan-friendly over the past 10 years. There are over 60 all-vegan or very vegan-friendly businesses in this list for you to support, so if you’re looking for your next vacation (or permanent) destination, look no further.
If you already live in Portland and you’re reading this, I have some questions for you.
- Why is it called The Rose City when literally the only place I saw any roses at all was at the Rose Garden?
- Why is it called the City of Stumps? Did I miss the stumps?
I don’t need to ask why it’s called the gem of the Pacific Northwest, because after you read this list of 60 vegan spots, you’ll see why.

Vegan Brunch Restaurants in Portland
Below is a list of places to get vegan brunch in Portland. There are additional places under the Vegan Food Trucks and Food Carts section at the bottom.
Blossoming Lotus
Blossoming Lotus is a healthy organic all-vegan restaurant with a menu that focuses on raw and gluten-free options. They offer brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. The scrambles and the benedict are winning options.
Neighborhood: Irvington
Sweetpea
Sweetpea Baking Company is a 100% vegan bakery that also serves coffee, brunch, and lunch. They were one of the original vegan spots that have been here since 2005, so I have been here back when they were offering a brunch buffet. Since those early days of beta testing the brunch, they now have a complete brunch and lunch menu everyday!
Neighborhood: Buckman (SE Portland)
Closed: everyday, they close at 3pm
Mirisata
Mirisata is an all-vegan Sri Lankan restaurant that offers brunch on Sundays only, starting at 10am. The Mirisata brunch menu offers items such as Just Egg scramble, coconut roti, and passionfruit mimosas.
Neighborhood: Buckman, Belmont (SE Portland)
Off the Griddle
Off the Griddle is a diner that’s open for brunch and lunch. Everything on the menu comes vegan by default, but I guess you can request dairy and eggs if you hate animals. If you’re a long time vegan, like me, you might recall a place called A.N.D. Cafe back in the day that had bike chain art on the walls. Well, this is the same place, but rebranded. The Off the Griddle brunch menu has a lot of choices, but if you like mushrooms, definitely order the mushroom melt waffle. Another great option is the brunch wrap: a breakfast version of the taco bell crunch wrap. Here’s a spinach and mushroom waffle with ranch dressing and tofu scramble that I ordered back when it was A.N.D. cafe in 2016.
Neighborhood: Mt. Scott - Arleta (SE Portland)
Closed: at 3pm every day
Victoria
Victoria is a bar that serves vegan brunch every day from 10am - 3pm. While the bar menu is not entirely vegan, the Victoria brunch menu is all vegan. Order the coconut chai french toast, or if you’re in the mood for savory, the chicken and waffles.
Neighborhood: Humboldt (N Portland)
Fermenter
Fermenter is an all-vegan spot offering brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. They source their mostly organic ingredients from local growers, and take care in making everything from scratch. I recommend ordering something the housemade vegan breakfast sausage from the brunch menu.
Neighborhood: Buckman, Belmont (SE Portland)
Closed: Sunday through Tuesday
Vegan Restaurants for Lunch and Dinner
Obon Shokudo
Obon Shokudo is an all-vegan Japanese restaurant with more than just soups and sushi. Everything I ordered from here was amazing and this was my favorite place in Portland on this last visit. I ordered the combo because I love tasting a little bit of everything, and it came with 2 different flavors of onigiris, curried korokke, a giant tater tot, kakiage, and salad. The onigiris I got were the ginger with pistachio miso and the yuzu with pumpkin seed miso. Everything was SO GOOD. I also ordered the okonomiyaki, because I’ve never seen that vegan. It’s a savory Japanese pancake that tastes like it’s filled with kimchi. This was amazing! I ordered all of this for 2 people, and we definitely had leftovers.
Neighborhood: Industrial District, Central Eastside, Buckman (SE Portland)
Closed: Tuesdays
Boxcar
Boxcar was my second favorite thing I had in Portland on my most recent trip. I originally just went here because it shares a name with one of my favorite Jawbreaker songs, but I fell in love for a whole different reason. I’d like to preface this by saying that I’ve only ever had Detroit style pizza in one other place, and that was in Austin, TX, so this is a rare treat for me. This Detroit style pizza is SO EFFING GOOD. Each pizza comes with 4 slices, and that was enough for 2 of us (if you’ve never had Detroit pizza, the crust is thick like a delicious focaccia).
Neighborhood: Kerns (NE Portland)
Closed: Closed until 4pm on weekdays
Epif
Epif is an all-vegan South American restaurant and Pisco bar that has been open since 2015. It has a moody vibe inside and the plates are small, so it can be a bit pricey if you come hungry. Since they’re open for limited days/hours, you may want to make a reservation before you go. I recommend the fried mozzarella empanadas and the maple and ginger glazed portabella mushrooms over polenta.
Neighborhood: Kerns (NE Portland)
Closed: Sunday - Tuesday, and they’re only open for dinner Wednesday - Saturday
Next Level Burger
Next Level Burger is a vegan fast food spot that started in Portland over 5 years ago and has since expanded to other cities, including Concord, CA and San Francisco, CA, which are both near me, luckily. They make realllllly good milkshakes and loaded tots, but below is a picture of the animal burger that I got during my first visit to one of the Portland locations in 2016. If you’re lucky enough to go here during the holidays, I recommend the thanksgiving sandwich.
Neighborhood: one location is in Hawthorne, Sunnyside (SE Portland), and the other is in Goose Hollow (W Portland)
Ben and Esther’s Vegan Jewish Deli
Ben and Esther’s Vegan Jewish Deli is a unique find. I wasn’t able to make it there on my last visit because it’s quite a ways off the beaten path, but if you can make it fit into your schedule, definitely give it a try. This would be a great way to try classic Jewish food that you haven’t had since going vegan like lox bagels, vegan matzo ball soup, challah bread, whitefish bagel, knishes, and potato latkes.
Neighborhood: Roseway (NE Portland)
Closed: they close at 3pm every day
Virtuous Pie
Virtuous pie is an all vegan pizza restaurant with a dessert menu. the inside is really nice and has seating, but there’s also picnic tables outside under a covered awning. The employees are super nice and friendly, and the pizzas are named after cute things. I ordered the Hedgehog ice cream which was a chocolate and hazelnut ice cream that I’ve never had before. It was so good, and it was my most popular post on Instagram over the past few months.
Neighborhood: Hosford-Abernethy, Central Eastside (SE Portland)
DC Vegetarian
DC Vegetarian is an all-vegan restaurant that started as a food cart in downtown Portland back in 2009. Now they have their own brick and mortar in SE Portland, and they make their own seitan in house.
I ordered the reuben, and it was the biggest, most delicious sandwich you could ever ask for. It was seriously enough for 2 meals if you’re not a huge eater!
The staff was super friendly. There was no line. There’s picnic tables out front where you can eat, but it’s mostly a takeout spot. I recommend doing what I did and take your food a couple blocks down to the park and sit under the shade of a giant tree.
Neighborhood: Richmond, Clinton, South Tabor (SE Portland)
Closed: Sunday - Monday
Blossoming Lotus
Blossoming Lotus is a healthy organic vegan restaurant with a menu that focuses on raw and gluten-free options. This place has been there for as long as I can remember. I recommend ordering the bibimbap bowl. I’ve only been to the location in Irvington, so I can’t speak to the other one.
Neighborhoods: One in Irvington and one in the Alphabet District
The Secret Pizza Society
The Secret Pizza Society is an organic all-vegan pizza restaurant. The Secret Pizza Society menu has so many unique flavor combinations to choose from. I’m boring, so I just got the pepperoni pizza, but it was very yummy.
Neighborhood: Montavilla (NE Portland)
KaTi
KaTi is an omni Thai restaurant where the majority of the menu can be made vegan.
Neighborhood: Clinton, Richmond (SE Portland)
Closed: Mondays
Vegan Junk Food
Vegan Junk Food is a great restaurant for the junk food classics that are sometimes hard to find vegan, like curly fries and corn dogs. Keep in mind that they’re only open for dinner.
Neighborhood: Creston-Kenilworth (SE Portland)
Mama Dut
Mama Dut is an all-vegan vietnamese restaurant. They have a teeny tiny bit of outdoor seating, but it’s not enough, so plan on getting takeout. Also, plan on waiting in line. I guess they were featured on some Netflix TV show recently, and have blown up, so they sell out before closing time. They also regularly host a Daddy’s Vegan popup, where you can get vegan burgers, wings, etc.
If you like mushrooms, definitely get the fried mushroom banh mi. If you’re looking for some instagramable food, I recommend the pandan biscuits and gravy, the ube whoopie pie for dessert, and the purple butterfly pea flower limeade (similar to my purple lemonade).
Neighborhood: Buckman, Belmont (SE Portland)
Closed: Monday - Wednesday
Mis Tacones
Mis Tacones is an all-vegan mesican restaurant. They’re LGBTQ owned, and there’s a vegan Mexican patisserie that does a popup there twice a week. The nachos are made with their flavorful homemade chips, so that would be a good item to try, but honestly, everything on the menu looks like a winner. People also love their empanadas.
Neighborhood: Vernon, Alberta Arts District (NE Portland)
Closed: Tuesday - Wednesday
Rudy’s
Rudy’s Pizza has been around since 2006. While they’re not an all vegan pizzeria, they do have an excellent vegan menu with over 15 different kinds of vegan pizza. They also offer 5 vegan salads, 5 kinds of vegan bread sticks, and vegan wings. They even have vegan calzones. You can build your own pizza if you’re a picky pants like me, and some of the vegan toppings they have include vegan bacon, vegan meatballs, and vegan ham. The cheese they use is follow your heart, but all of the rest of their vegan sauces are housemade.
The folks who own this place are good people who give back to the community whenever possible. They even saved me some of their heart-shaped vegan pepperoni from Valentine’s Day so that I could have it when I came into town a week later. How awesome is that?!
Neighborhood: Hosford-Abernethy (SE Portland)
Dirty Lettuce
Dirty Lettuce is an all-vegan black-owned southern food restaurant. I recommend ordered the popcorn chicken and the fried pickles with a side of ranch.
Neighborhood: Cully (NE Portland)
Closed: Monday through Wednesday
Off the Griddle
Off the Griddle is a diner that’s open for brunch and lunch. Everything on the menu comes vegan by default, but I guess you can request dairy and eggs if you hate animals. If you’re a long time vegan, like me, you might recall a place called A.N.D. Cafe back in the day that had bike chain art on the walls. Well, this is the same place, but rebranded. I’ve only been here for brunch so I can’t recommend anything to order from the lunch menu, but they have veggie burgers with a patty that’s made from actual veggies, which can be hard to come by in this impossible/beyond meat world.
Neighborhood: Mt. Scott - Arleta (SE Portland)
Daily Fuel
Daily Fuel is an all-vegan restaurant that started out as a food cart and now has a brick and mortar. They mostly offer healthy, gluten-free food. Even their desserts and shakes are healthy. People really seem to love it. I ordered the brussel sprouts, the roasted potatoes with the smoky cheese sauce, and the dude burger. They were out of the smoky cheese sauce, and all of the other dips they offer don’t sound good to me, so I only ended up getting the brussel sprouts and the dude Burger. They were just okay. Unless you’re on a diet or avoid gluten, I would skip this place.
Neighborhood: Belmont, Sunnyside (SE Portland)
Closed: Monday - Tuesday
Loving Hut
If you’ve been vegan longer than a week, you know all about Loving Hut already. They’re an all-vegan restaurant chain with locations around the world. They offer good affordable food, but if you’re visiting Portland and not living here, then I would pass on Loving Hut since you can likely get it back home.
Neighborhood: Downtown (SW Portland)
Closed: Monday - Tuesday
Fermenter
Fermenter is a kombucha brewpub with an all-vegan menu. They’re open for lunch and dinner Wed-Sun, as well as brunch on Sat-Sun. They source their mostly organic ingredients from local growers, and take care in making everything from scratch. I recommend the kale salad and the reuben from the Fermenter lunch/dinner menu.
Neighborhood: Buckman, Belmont (SE Portland)
Closed: Sunday through Tuesday
The Sudra
The Sudra is an all-vegan Indian restaurant that has 3 locations in Portland. The Sudra menu has many options to choose from, but I recommend the samosas, tempeh fried rice, the lentil kofta plate, the poori plate with black eyed korma, and the kale dosa.
Neighborhoods: Boise, Mississippi (N Portland), Beaverton (SW Portland), and Kerns (NE Portland)
SportsBox
A 100% vegan sports bar has me so conflicted, because while I hate sports, I love vegan food. It’s dog friendly, which is great for me, since I’m a dog lover. And I love that they have a patio, since I’m also a liver of not getting COVID. I recommend the potato skins with ranch.
Neighborhood: Sellwood (SE Portland)
Fortune
If you like Latin American food, Plant Based Papi is a vegan Latin American popup operating out of a bar called Fortune. It’s downtown, which is nice because there aren’t many vegan dinner options in downtown Portland. I haven’t been here, but people seem to like the vegan parmesan, mac n cheese, and fried chicken.
Location: Downtown (SW Portland)
Closed: Only open for dinner starting at 4pm every day
The Whole Bowl
The Whole Bowl is healthy, gluten-free, allergen-free food that caters to a certain kind of person (which isn’t me). If you are on a cleanse or a diet while in Portland, however, then this may be the place for you. It’s not a vegan spot, so make sure you ask them to make your bowl vegan.
Neighborhood: there are 6 locations in Portland, so there’s bound to be one near you
Homegrown Smoker
Everyone has to go to Homegrown Smoker at least once in their lives. It’s a landmark of Portland. Homegrown Smoker has been an all-vegan food truck in Portland for as long as I can remember. This was the first place I ever tried hush puppies and also the first place I ever had frito pie. I recommend the buffalo wings, hush puppies, mac n cheese, and barbecue ribs.
Neighborhood: St. Johns (N Portland)
Closed: Mon-Tues
Vegan Bakeries
Sweetpea
Sweetpea Baking Company is a 100% vegan bakery that also serves coffee, brunch, and lunch. They were one of the original vegan spots that have been here since 2005, so I have been here gobs of times. One of my favorite things was that the brunch buffet included a cup of coffee that you could add nondairy milk to (back when that wasn’t offered anywhere). Just don’t make the mistake I did and accidentally put nooch in your coffee thinking it’s sugar. The condiment bar has more than just coffee accouterments, so maybe have a coffee before you go, or bring a friend who has half a brain before their morning coffee.
Since those early days of beta testing the brunch, they now have a complete brunch and lunch menu everyday!
Neighborhood: Buckman (SE Portland)
Shoofly
Shoofly Vegan Bakery and Cafe is an all-vegan bakery that has everything a bakery should. They have pies, cupcakes, muffins, cookies, cakes, and even something I had never heard of before my visit here: Phillykakes (which are delicious). The interior is quite big and has plenty of seating where you can enjoy your treats. Or, you can find their treats elsewhere in Portland, like vegan coffee shop Jet Black Coffee Company.
Neighborhood: Hosford-Abernethy, Central Eastside (SE Portland)
Closed: Sundays
Petunia’s Pies & Pastries
Petunia’s is the CUTEST pastel-decorated 100% vegan and gluten-free bakery in Portland. They have tea, coffee, cakes, cookies, scones, brownies, cupcakes, and even ice cream! I recommend their brownies. There’s a thin mint brownie and mocha brownie, and both are divine.
Neighborhood: Downtown (SW Portland)
Tiny Moreso
Tiny Moreso is more of a raw restaurant that’s heavy on the desserts and light on the food than it is a bakery, but the raw desserts are so pretty that it feels like that is really the highlight. If you are familiar with Rawdacious desserts, those are the desserts served here. You can also grab a salad or an avocado toast while you’re here.
Neighborhood: Cully (NE Portland)
Closed: They’re only open 11am-4pm.
Voodoo Donuts
Now that Voodoo Donuts has expanded to other cities, there’s a slim chance that you haven’t already been to one. However, if you’re in the 1% of the population who hasn’t, I’ll tell you a little bit about it. Voodoo Donuts is a kitschy doughnut shop where all the donuts have cute names and themes. They have a Voodoo Doughnut that’s like a voodoo doll with pretzel pins sticking out of it and blood colored fruit filling that oozes out. Another donut that they are famous for is the cock and balls, which I think you can guess what shape it is. And of course, it has a boston cream filling.
Depending on what time you go and what location, they usually have at least 10 varieties of vegan donuts at any given time. Here’s another secret that not many people know. Most locations will offer you a doughnut bucket. This is one of those giant plastic buckets you get when you go fruit picking, filled to the top with day-old donuts, and they only charge you $10 for the whole bucket. The best part about the donut bucket is that you can usually get one that’s all vegan.
Neighborhoods: One location is in Kerns (NE Portland), and the other is in Chinatown, near downtown (SW Portland)
Doe Donuts
Doe donuts is a completely all-vegan donut shop that also has ice cream and drinks. This summer is the second time I’ve been to Doe donuts, but the first time, they were in a different location. I like this new location a lot more, because from what I remember, the other location was pretty far out in the middle of nowhere. Another thing I liked more about this time is they seem to have more selection. For instance, I got a coffee float with cold brew and coffee ice cream. I’m pretty sure the last time I went there, they only had doughnuts. If you’re going for doughnuts, I recommend the London Fog.
Neighborhood: Hollywood (NE Portland)
Vegan Ice Cream in Portland
Petunia’s Pies & Pastries
In addition to being the CUTEST pastel-decorated 100% vegan and gluten-free bakery in Portland, Petunia’s also has house-made coconut-based ice cream! They have vanilla, cookie dough, and salted caramel chocolate, but I recommend the mint chip. It is seriously perfection.
Neighborhood: Downtown (SW Portland)
Virtuous Pie
Virtuous pie is an all vegan pizza restaurant with a dessert menu. the inside is really nice and has seating, but there’s also picnic tables outside under a covered awning. The employees are super nice and friendly, and the pizzas are named after cute things. I ordered the Hedgehog ice cream which was a chocolate and hazelnut ice cream that I’ve never had before. It was so good, and it was my most popular post on Instagram over the past few months.
Neighborhood: Hosford-Abernethy, Central Eastside (SE Portland)
Kate’s Ice Cream
Kate’s Ice Cream is an all-vegan and gluten-free ice cream parlor. They use coconut milk as the base for all their flavors, and some of their flavors are very pretty pastel colors, and very instagrammable. They also allow dogs inside, so bring your pooches!
Neighborhood: Boise, Mississippi (N Portland)
Eb & Bean
Eb & Bean is a frozen yogurt shop that has 3 locations in Portland. They have 4 flavors that are vegan, and they change daily. Some have an almond milk base, and some have a coconut milk base. Eb & Bean also offers some vegan toppings like vegan whipped cream and even Penguin coat, also known as Magic Shell. All 3 locations are grab-and-go, so it’s not a place where you’re expecting to go inside and sit down.
Neighborhoods: Irvington (NE Portland), Clinton, Richmond, (SE Portland), and Alphabet (NW Portland)
Fifty Licks
Fifty licks is an ice cream parlor with 3 locations in Portland. They have a vegan menu, but it is not all vegan. When I went to the SE Portland location, they were remodeling, so they had a little ice cream stand set up at the front door. You would walk up, order what you want, pay, and they would hand it to you. I ordered an ice cream cone, because I’m a child. But when they handed it to me, it was in a bowl with the cone sticking up like a hat. When I asked about it, they said they always serve their cones in bowls, so that just seemed really wasteful. I recommend the mocha mud pie flavor if you like coffee and chocolate.
Neighborhoods: Hosford-Abernethy, Clinton and Buckman (SE Portland) and Alphabet (NW Portland)
Closed: Mondays
Salt & Straw
Like Fifty Licks, Salt & Straw is an ice cream parlor that has dairy ice cream, but with a vegan menu of five or six vegan flavors. Salt & Straw are in a lot of cities, so I don’t go there when I’m in Portland, but if you’re near one, and you’re in the mood for ice cream, it’s a solid option. Their flavors tend to be a little too hipster for me, like lavender ice cream. I’m more traditional (boring) with my ice cream flavors. The flavors on the vegan menu at Salt & Straw rotate every month, so if you don’t like the flavors they have when you go, it could be worth giving them another chance.
Neighborhoods: Clinton, Richmond (SE Portland), Alphabet (NW Portland), Beaverton (SW Portland), and Alberta Arts District, Vernon (NE Portland)
Doe Donuts
Doe donuts is a completely all-vegan donut shop that also has ice cream and drinks. This summer is the first time I’ve tried their ice cream. I got a coffee float with cold brew and coffee ice cream. I’m pretty sure the last time I went there, they only had doughnuts. If you’re going for doughnuts, I recommend the London Fog.
Neighborhood: Hollywood (NE Portland)
Cloud City Ice Cream
Like Salt & Straw and Fifty Licks, Cloud City Ice Cream is a muggle ice cream parlor with a few vegan options. This is a good place to come if you have allergies because they’re really good at separating things. People really like the marionberry berry sorbet here.
Neighborhood: Woodstock (SE Portland)
Hurry Back Ice Cream
Like Salt & Straw, Fifty Licks, and Cloud City Ice Cream, Hurry Back Ice Cream is mostly dairy ice cream, with a few vegan options. This ice cream cart has really limited days that they’re open, so I wouldn’t go out of your way to come here, just in case. They usually have about 4 vegan options that change every day, but they’re all coconut-based.
Neighborhood: Woodstock (SE Portland)
Closed: Saturday - Tuesday
Vegan Bars in Portland
Sweet Hereafter
Sweet Hereafter will always have a special place in my heart as the place where I burned off part of my eyebrow fucking with the candles they have on the tables. I’m naturally clumsy, so this wasn’t a huge surprise, but they also make a strong sweet tea vodka that they serve in quart-sized mason jars, so I think we can partially blame that. They also have a nice patio.
Neighborhood: Belmont (SE Portland)
Bye and Bye
The Bye and Bye was the first all-vegan bar I had ever been to, back 10 years ago when vegan establishments weren’t as popular as they are today. I remember being excited that I could order greens (kale and collards I think) and black beans at 1am. They also have a nice patio.
Neighborhood: King (NE Portland)
Victoria
Victoria is a bar that serves some vegan food.
Neighborhood: Humboldt (N Portland)
Closed: Only open for dinner starting at 4pm every day
Vegan Coffee Shops in Portland
Jet Black Coffee Company
This 100% vegan coffee shop in Portland brews beans from Water Avenue Coffee. All the baked goods they sell are vegan and are made by local bakers such as Shoofly and Sweetpea. They’re located right behind the vegan grocery store: Food Fight!
Neighborhood: Parkrose Heights, (NE Portland)
Closed: everyday at 3pm
Nectar Cafe
Nectar cafe is a 100% vegan cafe in Portland that roasts their own beans. In addition to a standard coffee menu, they also offer juices, smoothies, breakfast, and lunch. I got a green juice from here, which may seem very unlike me, but I had already had 3 coffees, and it was the afternoon, so that’s what happened.
The juice I ordered had cilantro in it, and I’m not a huge fan of cilantro, so I had my doubts, but this juice won me over. You would never guess that cilantro would be good in a juice but it gave it this freshness that I can’t describe.
The gender neutral restroom has cute floors. I don’t know how that’s relevant, but it stood out in my mind, so now I’m passing it on to you. Oh, and it’s only a block or two from Doe’s Donuts which is nice, because you can load up on sweets at Doe’s and then have a green juice here to balance it out.
Neighborhood: Hollywood (NE Portland)
Vegan Food Trucks
DITTO
DITTO is not just the name of a cute pokemon. It’s also a 100% vegan food truck serving soups and sandwiches for breakfast and lunch. Order the hashbrowns if you can.
Neighborhood: King (NE Portland)
Closed: Tuesday - Wednesday
Native Bowl
Native Bowl is an all-vegan food cart that serves just bowls. Every bowl on the menu is good, but maybe avoid the Burnside Bowl, which isn’t bad, but isn’t as good as the others.
Neighborhood: Boise, Mississippi (N Portland)
Charlie’s Breakfast Cart
Charlie’s Breakfast Cart is an all-vegan food cart. They close a little earlier than chubby bunny, but are otherwise similar in that they both serve breakfast foods only. I recommend ordering the crunch wrap.
Neighborhood: Rose City Park (NE Portland)
Closed: Monday - Tuesday
Supernova Vegan
Supernova Vegan is an all-vegan food cart that opened in 2017. All menu items can be made gluten free and many can be soy free. They’ve recently transitioned from food cart to brick & mortar I think, unless they’ve always had both. From what I gather, the food is awesome, but the service is not. So this might not be my first choice considering all the other options in Portland, but if it’s convenient, then you should go and order a burrito. The elote burrito and the midnight toker burrito are the most popular. Neighborhood: Alberta Arts District, Concordia (NE Portland)
Closed: Monday - Thursday
La Taquiza Veganza
La Taquiza Veganza is an all-vegan Mexican food cart. The most popular menu items are the Al pastor tacos and the Birria tacos. They offer plastic-free packaging and they provide reusable utensils, which is rare for a food cart. Don’t wait to order until right before they close, because they actually start closing around 7:30, rather than 8.
Neighborhood: Clinton, Mt. Tabor, (SE Portland)
Closed: Mondays and Tuesdays
Sushi Love
Sushi Love is a 100% plant-based & Gluten-Free sushi restaurant. They just reopened a month ago. They have new owners now, and they’ve been working through some kinks, so you might want to wait a month before you go so they can get the hang of things. If you’re thinking about going, check in on Yelp to get a coupon.
Neighborhood: Lents (SE Portland)
Closed: Monday - Tuesday
Buddy’s Steaks
Buddy’s Steaks is a vegan cheesesteak food cart located in the Rose City Food Cart pod. The owners are from Philly, so they know what they’re doing. I recommend also ordering the mozzarella sticks if you go.
Neighborhood: Rose City Park (NE Portland)
Closed: Tuesday - Wednesday
Chubby Bunny
Chubby Bunny doesn’t market themselves as a vegan food cart, but they are 100% vegan. They have breakfast sandwiches hash browns and burgers. If you’re the kind of person who likes to order breakfast all day, this food cart is for you.
Neighborhood: Belmont, Sunnyside (SE Portland)
Closed: Mondays
Planted PDX
Planted PDX is an all-vegan Indonesian-inspired food truck. They have menu items such as falafels, arepas, mac-n-soy curls, salads, and lettuce wraps. None of the food looks super exciting to me, so I haven’t been, but people who go really rave about it. The Mac and soy curls seems to be the most popular item on the menu, which makes sense because it looks the most delicious out of everything.
Location: Multnomah Village (SW Portland)
Closed: Mondays
The MOCKing Bird
This is an all-vegan fried chicken food cart. I drove all the way to Beaverton which was like a 20 minute drive one way to go here, and they were closed because of a heatwave I guess. I mean, I get it oh, I’m sure working in a food truck during a heat wave sucks, but I just wish they would have updated Yelp and their website to let people know.
Location: Beaverton (SW Portland)
Closed: apparently on hot days?!
Chilango PDX
Chilango is an all-vegan and all-gluten-free Mexican taco truck. I really wanted to go here, because they’re supposedly so good that they sell out before the end of the night! Sadly, they’re only open on weekends, so I just wasn’t there on the right day. If you’re in Portland on a weekend, you should try to squeeze this into your agenda.
Location: Alberta Arts District, Concordia (NE Portland)
Closed: Monday - Thursday
100% Vegan
100% vegan is a food truck that parks in downtown Portland. They have a vegan chicken sandwich, mozzarella sticks, fries, and a Philly cheesesteak on the menu. People rave about the french fries, but I don’t know if it’s worth going somewhere for fries. Reviews are mixed for this place, so I didn’t go.
Location: Downtown (SW Portland)
Closed: Sunday - Monday
Other Vegan Places in Portland
Food Fight! Vegan Grocery
Food Fight is part of the vegan block and have been for as long as I can remember. They offer vegan soft serve, hot dogs, sandwiches, and a wide selection of other hard-to-find vegan packaged foods.
Neighborhood: Parkrose Heights, Hazelwood, (NE Portland)
Closed: at 7pm everyday
Scapegoat Tattoo
I got a friendship tattoo with a few of my friends at this all vegan tattoo shop a bunch of years ago when it was still located in the vegan block. The artists are nice, and the waiting list isn’t long. They do good work.
Neighborhood: Buckman (SE Portland)
Closed: they don’t open until noon everyday (like most tattoo shops)
Cultured Kindness
Cultured kindness is an all-vegan cheese store that is on the vegan block. If you’ve been to the vegan block before, it’s where the old food fight grocery store used to be. They have cheesecake (they even have ube cheesecake-pictured below), as well as a wide variety of vegan and gluten-free cheeses. They make their own tofu bacon, and they sell that bacon on a breakfast sandwich, if you’re looking for something that’s ready to eat. They also sample their cheeses so that you can try them before you buy them.
If you’ve been to Riverdel in New York, this is different in that they only sell their own brand of cheeses.
Neighborhood: Buckman (SE Portland)

Herbivore Clothing
Herbivore clothing is an all-vegan store that sells mostly apparel, but also bags and purses and belts and other things that are sometimes hard to find vegan. If you’re looking for a t-shirt or stickers don’t have animal rights messages on them, this is your place. The last time I went here was when they were located on the vegan block, right next to the vegan tattoo shop. I think they’ve moved since then though.
